Fatima Khan
Associate Professor of Instruction in Arabic, Middle East and North African Languages Program
I am a native of Chicago and an alumna of Northwestern, where I studied Economics and have very vivid memories of the fast paced Northwestern quarter system. After working in consulting for a bit, I pursued graduate education in Near Eastern Studies and specialized in the teaching of Arabic. Since then, I have been teaching all levels of Arabic and enjoy teaching Media Arabic and the history of Arab immigration to the US. Most people are surprised that I am not a native Arabic speaker of Arabic or of Arab descent! When I am not running around campus to attend a Fellows’ lunch or event, you can find me in the Middle East and North African Languages Program where I teach Arabic. It’s a smaller yet lively program filled with great events and even more amazing food. Often you will see me with a child or two (or more) accompanying me to an evening event.
