Abt, M.D., Professor of Kidney Diseases and Tenured Professor of Pediatrics at the Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern University, Head of Kidney Diseases at the Ann and Robert H Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, and director of the two Davita Children’s Dialysis Centers in Chicago. His funded research focuses on the basic and clinical expression of inherited or acquired disorders of calcium, phosphorus vitamin D, and FGF23 metabolism, mechansims of cardiovascular diseases in children with obesity or chronic kidney disease, the proteomics of inherited stone disease, inherited genetic diseases (cystinosis, oxalosis, kidney stones, atypical HUS, hypophosphatasia), and the rehabilitation of patients around the world with chronic kidney disease.
